Light the fire in my heart again.

Why we do what we do.

Why we Stand

“Then some Levites…STOOD UP and praised the Lord, the God of Israel, with very loud voices.” - (2 Chronicles 20:19)

“After this I looked and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people, and language, STANDING before the throne and in front of the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands. And they cried out in a loud voice; salvation belongs to our God, who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb.” - (Revelation 7:9-10)

Why we Lift Our Hands

”I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name I will LIFT UP MY HANDS.” Psalms 134:2. “ I want men everywhere to LIFT UP HOLY HANDS in prayer, without anger of disputing.” - (1 Timothy 2:8)

Why we Clap Our Hands

“CLAP YOUR HANDS, all nations; shout to God with the cry of joy.” - (Psalms 47:1)

Why we pray and sing in Tongues and in English

“For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my mind is unfruitful. So what shall I do? I will pray with my spirit, but I will also pray with my mind. I will SING WITH MY SPIRIT, but I will also SING WITH MY MIND.” - (1 Corinthians 14:14, 15)

Why we pray out loud at one time.

The Bible encourages the believer to praise the Lord with a loud voice. When believers are deeply touched by the Lord many will pray and thank God audibly during times of corporate thanksgiving, prayer and praise. Others may pray silently expressing little outward emotion while others may weep openly as they are touched deeply by the presence of the Lord. Some may even be led to “dance before the Lord,” bow or kneel before Him. All forms of expression of devotion are encouraged as long as they are sincere and done decently and in order.

Why we Sing Choruses as Well as Hymns

"...instead, be filled with the Spirit. Speak to one another with PSALMS & HYMNS, and SPIRITUAL SONGS. Sing and make music in your hearts to the Lord.” - (Ephesians 5:18,19)

“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing PSALMS, HYMNS and SPIRITUAL SONGS with gratitude in your hearts to God.” - (Colossians 3:16)

Why we Dance

“Praise His name in the dance.” (Psalms 149:3) “David danced before the Lord with all his might.” - (2 Sam. 6:14)

Why we believe in speaking with other tongues?

Jesus said that believers would (Mark 16:17).

• Tongues certify and give evidence that the person is baptized with the Holy Spirit (Acts 1:5; 2:1-4; 10:44-46; 11:15-17; 19:1-6).

• Speaking in tongues is a good opportunity to submit to the Holy Spirit’s leading (Acts 2:4).

• Tongues demonstrate the reality of God in the speaker’s life (Acts 11:15-18).

• The baptism with the Spirit, evidenced by tongues, opens the door to other gifts of the Spirit (Acts 19:2,6).

• Tongues with interpretation are “for the [church’s] common good” (1 Corinthians 12:7, 10).

• Speaking in tongues is speaking to God (1 Corinthians 14:2a).

• Praying in tongues is praying “in” or “with the Spirit” (1 Corinthians 14:2, 14-15).

• The speaker in tongues is edified (1 Corinthians 14:4).

• The apostle Paul expressly approved of tongues (1 Corinthians 14:5a, 39).

• A tongue followed by an interpretation edifies the church (1 Corinthians 14:5, 12-13).

• Tongues allow us a balanced prayer and worship life, both with the spirit and with the understanding (1 Corinthians 14:14-15).
